We know cats can get themselves stuck up in trees, but dogs? Not so often.

And 120 pound Great Danes? Well, hardly ever.

But Kora, a giant gray pooch living inLouisville, Nebraska, accomplished quite a feat–especially for a girl of her size! When owner Wes McGuirk came home from dinner on Saturday night, he couldn’t find Kora anywhere. He scoured the house and his property, then heard a small cry. When he shined his light up in a nearby tree, there was his dog, stuck in the branches 20 feet off the ground!

Although he tried to get his girl down on his own, his one-man attempts were unsuccessful, and he called the sheriff’s office, who enlisted the help of local volunteer fire departments.

For a half hour, the crew put their heads together thinking up creative ways to get the oversized pup back down to safety. They ended up using a police K-9 harness to strap around Kora, and lowered her with a rope. All was smooth until the harness snapped under her weight, just feet off the ground. But with a brave crew there to spot her, she got all four paws back on soil safely.

Now, why was a 120 pound dog stuck 20 feet up in a giant tree, you ask? No one will ever know for sure (except for Kora, of course). McGuirk thinks she may have been chasing a raccoon or a squirrel. That’s some prey drive! Hopefully, she’s learned her lesson!
